Danis Rais Lensch, 72, passed peacefully at home on December 8, 2022. Danis was born July 3, 1950 in Portsmouth, VA. After graduating from York High School in 1968, She married the love of her life, Mark A. Lensch becoming a Navy wife. Traveling to various duty stations, she worked in the banking industry, and she had a passion for serving others. She spent countless hours devoting her life to military families, from being an ombudsman, hosting military reunions, or making sure Military Armed Force Members had a place to spend the holidays. She served as center director for the United Service Organization (USO) at Huntington Hall, retiring in 2018. Danis also volunteered 20+ years as a stand manager through the Hampton Coliseum. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend to so many in our community. Her most important role was being the foundation of our family. She enjoyed family dinners, playing cards, bingo, and spending time with family and friends.
Danis was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Anders Lensch, her parents Willis Daniel and Madelonne DeMarais Boone, her sisters Linda Fannin, Debi Houck, and her great granddaughter Abigail Rose Wilson.
She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Lensch, Nicole Ruane and husband William; two brothers, Richard D. Boone and Robert J. Boone; two sisters, Jeanne Morris and Donna Foster; as well as four grandchildren Brittany Wilson and husband Jonathan, Alexander Lensch, Kailer Lensch and Gage Ruane; and one great grandson, Luke Wilson.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, 6PM, at Orcutt Baptist Church in Newport News, VA.
Burial services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her late husband at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the American Heart Association.
