IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daneen Marie
D'Arcy O'Keefe
December 12, 2018
Daneen Marie D'Arcy "Nonna" O'Keefe
February 20, 1944 – December 12, 2018
Sadly we announce the death of our beloved "Nonna" on December 12, 2018. Daneen, was a loving mother of four, and grandmother of ten. Nonna was an avid artist, singer, bookworm, and retired real estate broker. She called Hampton, Virginia home for over 50 years, and was most recently a happy snowbird, splitting her time between Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Midlothian, Virginia.
Daneen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul R. O'Keefe, and 12 of her 15 siblings. She is survived by her three boys and their spouses, Rick and Teresa O'Keefe, Paul R. O'Keefe, Jr., Carlo and Lisa O'Keefe, and her daughter Daneen E. O'Keefe and Jim Dougherty. She also is survived by ten grandchildren, Patrick, Erin, Alan, Riley, Brian, Carson, Cammy, Kelly, Sam & Rachel. Nonna is also survived by siblings and their spouses, Peggy & Tom Nicholson, Karen D'Arcy Wydra, Carolyn & Baber Rathur, Rosemarie D'Arcy, Gerard and Elizabeth "Jerry & Betty" Conlon and June O'Keefe Duffy as well as nearly a hundred nieces, nephews, and cousins.
"Nonna" in Italian means grandma. To everyone who knew Daneen, especially her late husband Paul, her children, her grandchildren, and her friends "Nonna" means Love.
Behind every great man there is a great woman and Daneen was that woman for Paul. Daneen was born in Buffalo, NY, and Paul loved to say that she picked him because he was the first guy that she liked that wasn't from Buffalo. They made a life together through two tours in Vietnam, countless TDY trips with the DOD, and nearly 20 years of retirement. They traveled and sang around the world, and raised a family in faith leading the St. Mary's Star of the Sea folk group for over 20 years, and building lasting friendships and memories along the way.
Please come celebrate the life and love of our Nonna.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 17th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at R. Hayden Smith, 245 S. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23669.

We will have a party and dinner at Nonna and Pop Pop's favorite restaurant, Anna's Pizza in Buckroe at 1979 E. Pembroke Ave., Hampton, VA 23663.
Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UF Health Shands, Heart and Vascular Hospital, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, and Kindred Hospital, The Palm Beaches, for the care and compassion given to Nonna as she fought to return to health after her much needed heart surgery.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your favorite charity or the American Heart Association.
