Our beautiful Courtni Dawn Ashe-Ferguson went to be with our Lord unexpectedly on September 7, 2022. She was born January 29, 1987, in Proctorville, Ohio and spent a large portion of her life in Corpus Christi, Texas, graduating from Flour Bluff High School in 2005. Courtni moved to Hampton, Virginia to start her life with her wife and daughter. She was a medical scribe and loved her work; and loved her animals and family very much.

She was preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by her father, Playford Cordell Akers; maternal grandparents, William Ferguson and Florence Ferguson; paternal grandparents, Lewis Akers and Maurine Akers; maternal uncles and aunts, John and Debbie Ferguson, Lloyd (Cookie) Ferguson, Nathan Ferguson, and Chris Ferguson; paternal uncles aunts, Jim Bostic, Della Akers, Joyce Akers; and her paternal cousin, Leslie Akers.

She is survived by her loving wife, Katie Ashe-Ferguson; their beautiful daughter, Alysa; as well as her beloved dog and constant companion, Jackson.  Courtni also leaves to miss and cherish her memory,  her mother, Jennifer Darlene Akers; sister, Holly Amanda Slough; brother, Playford Cordell Akers, Jr. and wife, Jamie and their daughters, Amber and Jessica; and brother, Michael Lewis Akers and his daughter, Alainna; as well as her large extended family, maternal aunts and uncles and cousins, Veronica and Monica Katherine (John), Geneva and Roger Burge, Pam and Roger, Jr., Trudy Rowe, Peggy and Jeremy, Kim, Wanda and Tammy (Cookie), Sharon and Greg Aldridge, Stacy and Lewis, Barb and Irving Workman, Tracy, Ricky, Michael, Justin (Nathan), Mark and Betty Ferguson, Amber and Zack, Mathew Ferguson, Melissa and Greg Vanhorn, Catlin and Cody, Josh Ferguson (Chris); her paternal aunts and uncles, Darrell Akers, Tammy and Doug, Phyllis and Marty Keipke, Mercedes and Cierra, Mary Bostic, Jennifer and Daniel, Tom Akers, Liz Akers, Katie, Kelly, Josh, Arron and Donna, Aaron, Cindy Akers, Becky, Jonathan and Michelle, David Akers, Margo Akers, and Vicki Akers; and  a multitude of great nieces and nephews, as well as cousins and friends that were family who will miss her so very much.
