IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Constance Amy
Gomery
August 16, 2013
Constance Amy Gomery, (Connie), age 88, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her home with her children by her side on August 16, 2013. Connie was born in Fort Monroe, Virginia, and in 1946 married her husband of thirty-eight years, John ("Smokey"). A lifetime lover of music, Connie was a pianist for Emmanuel Lutheran Church and an active choir participant. She played a "mean" game of bridge and cherished her time with her bridge club. In addition to serving her church, she worked as a food and nutrition aide for the Virginia Extension Service. Her kind and loving spirit, her spry wit, and her generous heart will forever be remembered.
Connie was a devoted mother to her four children, and a caring, cherished grandmother to her two grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Ty and Violet Dutton; husband, John Gomery, her brother, Bill Dutton, and her sisters, Shirley Bogardus and Virginia Huff.
Connie is survived by her children, John and Florence Gomery of San Antonio, FL, Ann and Terry Allison, of Montgomery, AL, James Gomery, of Hampton, VA, and Michael Gomery of Montebello, VA. Her two grandchildren, Leslie Allison-Tapley and Brian Eyler, Jr, also survive her.
Special regards and thanks to Dr. Debra Boyer along with her wonderful staff, Dr. Allan Murphy, and Bobbie, his assistant. In addition, gracious thanks to Steve Burnette, Julie Agles Jankee, and Eva Frances from Gentiva Hospice. Finally, to Connies bridge group friends: you were a great inspiration and sense of joy to her in her last years. Connie was blessed with a wonderful, full life, and in turn she blessed those around her.
A graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gentiva Hospice Foundation, 7801 Mesquite Bend Drive, Suite 105, Irving TX 75063. Donations are also accepted on their website, www.gentivahospicefoundation.org.
