Concetta "Connie" Parra, 83, left this world but not our hearts on Friday, April 7, 2023.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ruby Gangi and her four siblings. She is survived by her beloved husband, Henry "Buster" Parra; her children, Joseph Codispoti (Jocelyn Codispoti), Lisa Codispoti, Maria Carter (George Carter), and Rita Follett (Rick Follett); her grandchildren, David Lyons (Maggie Lyons), Jared Lyons, Julie Codispoti, and Ricky Follett (Holly Follett); her great-grandchildren, Jackson Codispoti, Philip Lyons, and Ricky and Sawyer Follett); her nieces and nephews; and her extended family by marriage.

A lifelong Catholic with a special devotion to the Virgin Mary and infant Jesus, but it would be the cross of a long debilitating illness that would prove her beautiful witness to the faith. A native New Yorker for the first half of her life, she never lost her Brooklyn accent even "afta fawty yeas" of living in Southeastern Virginia. Likewise, her Italian Brooklynese humor remained well intact. She loved a good laugh, as much as her TV, bagels, and coffee. She loved dancing and babies, and babies dancing. But most especially, she loved her family! We have many fond memories of gathering around the table for hours; sharing a meal, coffee and cake, and swapping stories, whether it was the latest news or the latest and greatest shoes she knew so well, having sold so many for so long before retiring. She enjoyed being home more than any other place, and now in the loving embrace of her Savior she is finally "home" for good.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated later that same day at 4:00 PM at St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Yorktown.
