Clarence Evans Jr was born August 27th, 1935 to the late Clarence and Minnie Evans in Gordon, Georgia.
He was educated in the New York City School District and graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School.
He entered the Air Force in May 1954 and served 4 years. There he received the National Defense Service Medal.
While stationed in Charleston, SC, he met and married the late Gertrude Meyers on May 4, 1956. From this union they had two daughters, Sherrilyn and Robin.
Gaylord, as he was affectionately known by all, worked for Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority in New York City for 28 years and r etired in 1992.
In 1978, Clarence met and married Clintina Riley. From this union he welcomed a stepdaughter, the late Aromah Best.
After the death of his beloved wife Clintina, he moved to Hampton, VA to be near his daughters. He loved to frequent the Waffle House for breakfast where he always looked forward to seeing his favorite waitress, Tangela Jenkins, who also looked forward to seeing Mr. Clarence as she affectionately called him.
Preceding Clarence in his death were two brothers, Lemuel (Waco) and Dubinion (Ben), one sister LaVern Garrett, and his daughter Christine Olds.
He leaves to his memory his two loving and devoted daughters, Sherrilyn Paschal of Roanoke, VA, Robin (Ricardo) Jarvis of Hampton, VA; three sons, Frederick Olds of Florida, Steven Olds and Anthony Olds of New York; one sister Betty (Mose) Williams; five sisters-in-law Beryl Evans, Ethel Evans, and Yvonne Coakley all of New York, Hazel Nesmith and Evelyn (Jimmie) King of South Carolina ; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-children, and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives and friends.
