Clara Joan Babcock, 91 passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025. Clara was born in Redhook, New York to parents Clarence and Julia Vigeant. She was a longtime Hampton resident. Clara was a registered nurse, who devoted many years of her professional life to serving patients at the Hampton VA Medical Center before retiring at the age of 89. Clara was an animal lover and nature enthusiast, owning several beloved pets throughout her lifetime. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time boating and fishing with her husband Jim.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Babcock, daughters, Susan Powell and Jennifer Salldin; son-in-law Charles Powell, III; sisters, Mary Vigeant and Sally Vigeant, and her brother, Raymond Vigeant; she leaves to cherish her memory, granddaughters Evelyn Peterman, Lucy Smith (Matthew), Olivia Hines (Spenser) and grandson William Salldin; great-grandchildren Margot, Eva, Hazel, Jaxon and Owen, sister-in-law, Leslie Young and her husband John; and extended family members.
