Christopher A. Lindsay Jr. Passed away Monday February 19, 2018 after a short illness. He was born May 6, 1941 to the late C. Alton and Mary K. Lindsay. He was also preceded in death by his wife Joyce F. Lindsay. Chris is survived by his beloved sister Julia Arndt and her husband Fred of Lexington, Va., daughters Dana Longest (Mike) of Urbanna, Va., Christy Hearne (David) of Yorktown, Va., sons, Brad Lindsay (Laura) of Marshfield, MA., Kevin Lindsay of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Kory Lindsay of Nashville, TN., 9 grandchildren, Stephen, Jonathan, Kenleighe, and Benjamin Longest, Lonnie, Austin, and Spencer Hearne, Stephon and Aubrey Lindsay, as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Claire and Carson Longest, niece Erika Burkholder, two nephews Lindsay and Karl Arndt and several cousins.
Chris graduated from Hampton High School in 1959 and earned his degree from Chowan College. He worked for N.N. Shipbuilding before transferring to Electric Boat in Groton, CT and retired from the Electric Boat division of General Dynamics. Chris was honored to be in attendance when the U.S. Olympic Ice Hockey Team beat the USSR in Lake Placid, N.Y. in 1980. The US team would go on to beat Finland in the final for the gold medal, one of the many highlights of Chris' life. An avid sports fan, he loved cheering on the Dodgers, Redskins and the Duke Blue Devils. Chris was happy to watch Duke defeat Clemson in basketball the day before he passed away. Having lived in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. for many years, Chris also enjoyed horse racing, especially harness racing. Above all Chris loved his family and friends. Although he will be sorely missed by those who loved him, Chris has gone on to join the loved ones who preceded him in Eternity.
