Chieko O.
Soltis
February 15, 1932 – December 21, 2017
Chieko O. Soltis passed away peacefully on December 21, 2017, at her Chamberlin home on Fort Monroe. Chieko, known to her American friends as "Bunny," was born in Tokyo, Japan on February 15, 1932.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Naosaburo and Toku Ohno and her husband of 55 years, William Soltis, USAF (Ret). Bunny and Bill traveled throughout the world before settling in Virginia. With her husband, Bunny was very active in the American Rose Society and Virginia Orchid Society. Bunny is survived by her sister, Tamae Okayasu, and nieces and nephews in Japan. She also leaves behind her cherished Yorkie, Pongee.
Bunny was loved and cared for by her loyal friends, Wanda Kissinger and Polly Siemann. She was blessed with many close friends at the Chamberlin, especially Opal Abernathey. Heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice--Laverne Lide, Emily Richards, Dick Stoltz and Rev Lekarczyk, as well as her devoted caregivers, Lorraine Harkins, Brittany Tankard, Sara Wiglusz, and Yvette Morgan. Special appreciation to Sydney Newbauer and Lynn May for their support and friendship.
