Hampton,

Cheryl Dianne Carter, 73, widow of Gene T. Carter, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019. A lifelong resident of Hampton, she retired as an Art Teacher from Kecoughtan High School.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents George and Ester Meidinger; and her husband Gene Carter.  She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Elvia Meidinger, Kevin and Gayle Meidinger and "Tim" Timothy and Irene Meidinger, and Caroline James; nephews : Scott, Brett, Mathew, Jeremy and Cooper;  nieces, Brandy and Tia; her beloved dogs "The Girls", Shelby and Lexie; and many great nephews and nieces.

The family is forever grateful for the many years Cheryl spent caring for other family members.  The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Riverside Hospital for their care.

A service to celebrate Cheryl's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Wythe Presbyterian Church, 151 Robinson Rd in Hampton.
