Charles Wesley Lockwood, Jr., age 95, passed away
unexpectedly on Wednesday February 1, 2023. He was most
recently a resident of Harmony on the Peninsula in Yorktown,
Virginia. All who knew Charlie knew his love for the Lord and his
family. He and wife Mildred were married for 70 years. They lived
in Hampton where they raised their family and attended Memorial
Baptist Church. In 1984 they moved to Mathews, Virginia, and
were active members of Mathews Baptist Church. After
graduating from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts
degree and a Master's degree in Geology Charlie joined C.W.
Lockwood and Sons where he rose to President and worked into
his seventies. He was a long-time member of The Society for the
Preservation and Propagation of Barbershop Quartet Singing and
loved many types of music. He considered it his mission to foster
that love in others and was always recruiting others in
Barbershop, choir and hand bell choir. He is survived by wife,
Mildred; two daughters, Sharon Muller (Jeff); and Candace Taylor;
daughter-in-law, Bobbie Lockwood; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-
grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in
death by son, Brian Lockwood; parents, C.W. Sr. and Della Lewis
Lockwood; brothers, George, William, James, and sister, Della
Lockwood Cushing. A graveside service will be held on Monday,
February 6, 2023, 1:00 pm, at Peninsula Memorial Cemetery.
