Charles Victor Hellman, 32, died Thursday, September 23, 2021. Born in Hampton, Charlie graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 2008 having lettered in football and baseball. He worked at Marker 20 and other restaurants before attending Johnson and Wales in Charlotte, NC. In 2016, he moved to Oswego, IL working in the restaurant industry before beginning a career in the merchant marines in Illinois and Virginia. In August he moved back to Hampton taking a job with Seaward Marine on tug boats.

An Eagle Scout with Troop 218, Charlie was a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow, Kecoughtan Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing as well as sports of all kinds.

Charlie is survived by his parents, George Victor Hellman and Melissa Mierchuk Hellman; sister, Casey Hellman; grandmother, Charlotte Mierchuk; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr and Mrs. George Victor Hellman Sr, and Alexander Nicholas Mierchuk.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions go to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Memorial Fund.

Charlie will always be remembered as one of the good guys.

The bishop requires that masks be worn inside of the Episcopal Church regardless of vaccination status.
