Charles B. "Jake" Tollett Jr., 80, died November 18, 2016. Born in Melvine, Tennessee, he had been a longtime resident of the Peninsula. Jake served in the United States Army, following his time in the service he went on to a career as a construction contractor.

Survivors include his daughters, Martha E. Maiuro and Marla J. Tollett; grandchildren, Elizabeth Childress, Cory Childress, Taylor Maiuro, Mary Rabago, and Piper Rabago; great-grandchildren, Annabell King and Avery Childress; sisters, Francis Agee, Charlotte Liddle, and Amanda Smith; brothers, Crave Tollett, Tom Tollett, and William Tollett.  He was preceded in death by his brother, John Tollett.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at New Market Baptist Church, 8309 Orcutt Ave. Newport News, VA 23605.
