Charles W. Shinn Sr., 93, died Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Born in Kannapolis, NC, Charlie moved to Hampton in 1942 and was a member of Hampton Christian Church. He served 5 years in the Army before transferring to the Army Reserves where he served another 38 years until retiring as a Sergeant Major. Charlie worked in Civil Service as an Electronics Mechanical Foreman until retiring.

Charlie is survived by his son, Dean Shinn; sister, Phyllis Seymour; brothers, Jerry Shinn and Doug Shinn; brother-in-law, Bill Thomas; grandchildren, Kimberly Richey and Christopher Snead; three great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Dale Dalin, Jr.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 20, 2024 at Parklawn Memorial Park.
