Charles Edwin Ochsenfeld, 89, passed away July 24, 2017 after a long illness. He was born in Hampton on October 13, 1927. Charles went on to serve in the U.S. Maritime Service and the United States Army, serving in post war occupation forces in Germany and then serving in the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked for Maida Development Company for 23 years, retiring as a Machine Shop Foreman.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Stanton Hayes and Peter Joseph Ochsenfeld; brother, Peter J. Ochsenfeld, Jr.; and his daughter Charlese Breeden.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Edith Hurst Ochsenfeld; son, Michael E. Ochsenfeld; daughter, Terry Rosenbaum (Bobby); and grandson, Christopher Dale Rosenbaum.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 6-7PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave. Hampton.

The family would like to thank the staff at Northampton Convalescent Center and the staff of Grace Hospice for all their kind and compassionate care.
