Obituary

Charles W Mardis, 83, passed away after a brief illness on August 14th, 2020. He was born in Symbol, Kentucky and joined the United States Army at age 18. He met his wife of 54 years, Maxine Mardis, née Hobgood, at his first duty station at Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA where they would spend a majority of their lives together. After leaving the Army, Charles joined the VA national guard and eventually went to serve his country at the Newport News shipyard for 33 years while earning his degree from Christopher Newport University. After the death of his first wife, he was remarried to Patricia Milauckas until her death in 2017.
His life was defined by his dedication to his country, his family and his many friends. He will be remembered fondly by all those who were lucky enough to know him.

Also preceded in death by his son, Forrest; he is survived by three children; Deanna Lukas, Benjamin Mardis, and Barbara Franklin, as well as 4 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
