Charles Daniel "Dan" Hutson, 83, died Saturday, April 2, 2016. A native of Kitzmiller, MD, he had been a Hampton resident for the last five years. A member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Swanton, he was also a Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of the Korean War as a member of the US Air Force, he was Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 57 in Swanton, MD for many years where he touched the lives of many boys and was a member of the VFW Post 6775 in McCoole, MD as well as a member of the American Legion Victory Post 155 in Westernport, MD. He was elected as the 1st President of the Swanton Community Center in 1972. He retired as an elementary school teacher having taught in Deer Park, Federalsburg, Friendsville, and Loch Lynn, MD.

Preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Edith Hutson and his siblings, John H. Hutson, Evelyn Paul, George Hutson, and Ruth Hutson; survivors include his wife, Caroline Hutson; two sons, Craig Hutson and his wife, Karen of Graford, TX and Curtis Hutson and his wife, Paula of Oakland, MD; a daughter, Chloie Archer and her husband, Anthony of McHenry, MD; six grandchildren, Jason Hutson, Tara Koehler, Daniel Cas Hutson, Sophia Marsh, Tori Ping, and Sydney Holtschneider; six great-grandchildren, Abigail Hutson, Luke Koehler, Emma Charlie Bernard, Tyler Hutson, Russ Koehler, and David Marsh, IV; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Hutson and Encie Teets; a brother-in-law, Michael Rhodes, Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service with Air Force honors will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Rocky Gap Veterans' Cemetery in Flintstone, MD. A reception will follow at the Cumberland Shriner's Club.  A second memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Swanton United Methodist Church with dinner to follow at the church.
