Charles C. Eleby Jr., often called Charlie Jr. growing up was wonderfully made by God with six sisters to the late Charlie C. and Sallie Eleby. He moved to Durham, NC where he married Gloria Jean (Morris) Eleby. They enjoyed 55 wonderful years of marriage together and were blessed with their loving daughter Gaye Michelle Eleby Coney (Larry E. Coney). God increased his territory with influence and more of an opportunity to make a difference for God. Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force and then went on to work at N.N. Shipbuilding. Following his time there he was ordained as a minister and served in prison ministry, convalescent care ministry, and home care ministry, and drama ministry. He served God all while working to provide for his family, driving for Handi-Ride, working as a nursing student, a barber, insurance broker, and males chorus member. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandpa, brother uncle, and friend. He will be sorrowfully missed and will always be known for the great legacy he built and left for the Eleby family to carry on.

The family of the late Charles C. Eleby Jr. would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation and thank all for the many acts of kindness, prayers, flowers, and phone calls. Additionally, the family would like to acknowledge and thank all of those at Riverside Hospice Care; God will bless you for your outpouring of love, care and support.

I have fought a good fight,

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday August 30, 2021 at Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm Rd. Hampton VA at 11AM. The graveside service will be livestreamed on the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 10:55AM. The video will be available on Facebook afterwards as well for anyone not able to watch at that time.
