Obituary

Charles William "Chance" Davis, 70, died Thursday, October 24, 2013. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he moved to Hampton Roads in 1987 and then to Hampton in 1995. Chance served in the US Navy, receiving his commission and Aviator Wings in the spring of 1965 and then flying three tours in Vietnam. Following his military service, Chance flew as a "crop-duster" in numerous places including Martinsburg, WV and Zimbabwe, Africa. Coming to Hampton Roads, he served as a business broker and then worked for Colonnas Boatyard and Davis Boat Works before opening the Old Hampton Ice Cream Parlor in Downtown Hampton.

Chance was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Davis Sr. and Joyce Medrow Davis; and his middle brother, James Davis. He is survived by his wife, Lani Chisman Davis; sons, Jamey Davis, and Scott Davis and wife Brenda; brother, Andrew Davis; grandchildren, Dustin Davis, Chase Davis, Cierra Davis and Grayson Davis; and two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Linda Chisman. Chance loved Downtown Hampton and is also survived by his many friends there.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 3-5 PM at the Conch and Bucket Restaurant, 13 E. Queen St, Hampton.
