Charles Andrew Justin Quirk, 72, died, January 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Miami, Florida, he was the son of William and Elizabeth Quirk. Charles was a decorated veteran that served his county in the United States Army for twenty-two years from May 1975 until his retirement in June 1997. After his military career, he then worked in Security Assistance with the Department of Defense. Charles was a dedicated member of the VFW Post (Grafenwoehr), American Legion Post Richmond, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 13, and a member of The Army Historical Foundation. He enjoyed gardening, was a history buff, loved college basketball (Go Providence) and spending time with his family and pets. He was a proud graduate of Providence College, and received his masters from Webster University.
Preceded in death by his parents, Charles leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Kathy Petruska-Quirk; sons, Joseph Andrew Quirk (Lisa) and Collin Andrew Quirk; daughter, Deanna Marie Quirk; granddaughter, Braya Grace Quirk; sister, Tracy Pierce (Daniel); niece, Merrill Pierce; many dear friends and his large military family to cherish his memory.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 AM on Friday, February 9, 2024, 10:00 at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 7 Franklin Street, Fort Monroe, VA with a Celebration of Life to follow at Second Street an American Bistro, 115 Arthur Way, Newport News VA.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 13 and the Dr. Mark E. Ellis Endowment Fund for Cancer Care Advancement.
