Obituary

Cham Samuel McConnell, 70, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016. Born in Coeburn, VA, he had been a resident of Hampton since 1954, where he owned Mac's Oil Company for many years.

Cham loved antiques, The Washington Redskins and the New York Yankees. I he was widely known for his love of baseball. He spent many years coaching little league baseball with the Phoebus Little League.

Surviving are his children, Dolly Kathleen Alley, Tammy L. Nelms and George S. McConnell' grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, Shaun, Kimberly, Morgan, Hannah, Lilly and Patricia; eight great-grandchildren and nephew, Sam North.

The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 pm Tuesday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in downtown Hampton. A graveside service will be conducted 12 Noon on Wednesday at Peninsula Memorial Park by Rev. David Pace.

The family wishes in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the National Diabetes Association.
