Catherine Hunter Grassell. "Katie" graduated 1944 from Newport News High school. She was President of the Ladies Auxiliary Club at VFW Post 3219. Katie loved bowling, playing cards and being with her friends. She was the daughter of the late James and Fanny Hunter; and was also preceded in death by one brother, James Hunter Jr. She was the widow of William Kenneth Grassell, Sr. Catherine is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son, Deborah, Mary and Ken; 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, July 31st from 10-11 am at Central United Methodist Church, 225 Chapel Street, Hampton VA 23669. A funeral service will be conducted in the church at 11 am with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Family will be receiving guests at their mother's house after the burial services.
