Carrie V. Cavin, 58, died Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Born in Martinsville, VA, she lived most of her life in Fox Hill. Carrie began working at Chick-Fil-A while in High School. Through the years, she was a puppeteer with Rainbow Puppets, a teacher's aide at Gloria Dei, Office Manager for the Navy/Marine Core Relief Center, and ended her career full circle, back at Chick-Fil-A. She was a very outgoing person who made friends easily. She loved performing as a puppeteer, watching local musicians play, and attending festivals. She was a member of Restoration Church Hampton and attended many retreats, her faith was very important to her. Watching the sunsets from the beach and looking at sunflowers was a favorite pastime.
Not just a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, and big sister to her siblings, Carrie was a warrior. After a 2 year battle with cancer she fought very hard to be here for her daughter's wedding on Easter Sunday, she accomplished that goal.
Preceded in death by her father, Robert "Bob" Ferguson; survivors include her husband, Richard "Okie" Cavin; two daughters, Deborah Cavin and Rebecca Cavin Asercion (Joa); her son, Christopher Cavin; her mother, Martha Ferguson; her brothers, Rob Ferguson and Kenny Ferguson; and a sister, Bonnie Mitchell.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30pm on Friday May 16th at Restoration Church in Hampton.
Memorials may be made to Mill Swamp Indian Horses, (checks made out to Gwaltney Frontier Farms) 16 Dashiel Drive, Smithfield, VA or to the American Cancer Society.
