Caroline "Candy" Powers passed away on May 4, 2015. She was a longtime resident of Hampton and had worked as a manager of the ABC store in Riverdale before retiring. Candy never met a stranger and had a passion for life. After retirement she never slowed down, instead spending her time volunteering at Shelton on the Bay and serving as a docent at the Casemate Museum on Ft. Monroe. In her last year of life she enjoyed going to Atlantic City playing slots and coffee every weekend at Starbucks with her partners in crime Mac, Kim, and Jeff. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Presley L. Powers, and daughter, Caroline Setchel. Survivors include her son, Mac Powers; daughter, Kim Powers; grandchildren, Cameron Powers, Sailor Powers, Cade Powers, Meredith Powers, Michael Miller, Lesley Keller, Braidy Hudgins, Jason Hudgins, Daniel Hudgins, and Nathan Hudgins; great-grandchildren, Nicolas Miller and Nina Miller. A Graveside Gathering will be held at Hollywood Cemetery, 412 S Cherry St, Richmond, VA 23220 on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 11 AM. Arrangements by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
