Carole Manley Lynn entered eternal life on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the age of 86. The daughter of David Franklin Manley and Maude Smith Manley, she was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina but moved to Hampton, Virginia during her childhood and was a resident there for most of her life. Carole graduated from Hampton High School in 1955 and received her B.S. Degree in Business from Longwood College. Carole taught 7 th grade at Thorpe Jr. High School for 2 years and also taught for a brief time at a business school in Hagerstown, MD. Carole was employed for 12 years as a Historical Interpreter at Colonial Williamsburg and then served at The Mariner's Museum for 17 years as Manager of Visitation Services and of the Members Travel Group as they explored our maritime heritage throughout the world. Her work with the Members Travel Group inspired a passion for travel, and her trips across the globe also included: special one-on-one trips with each of her grandchildren to New York City, the Grand Canyon, Chicago, and Disneyworld; family beach, ski, and Disney trips; adventures to the Outer Banks and New York City with her high school Beach Girls, Joan Campbell, Barbara Evans, Virginia Smith, and Nancy Forrest; and numerous trips with her dear friend, Ralph Watson. She was a Sustainer Member of the Junior League of Hampton Roads, and a member and prior Deacon of Hampton Baptist Church. Carole is survived by her sons, Todd Manley Lynn and wife Natalie of Williamsburg and David Dale Lynn and wife Tracy of Hampton; her grandchildren, Garret (and wife, Laura), Tucker, Emily (and fiancé, Seth), Madison, and Lauren; her great-grandchildren, Beau and Sydney; and a bevy of treasured friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Hampton Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life immediately following at the Hampton Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hampton Baptist Church Memorial Fund (40 Kings Way, Hampton, VIRGINIA 23669 or hamptonbaptist.org/give).
