Carol Routten Whiting, 75, died Thursday, February 3, 2022. A native and lifelong resident of Hampton, Carol was a member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1964 then attended the Ray Vogue School of Design in Chicago, IL. Early in her career, Carol worked for Old Point National Bank and the First Virginia Bank. Later she served as office manager of Warwick Air Conditioning retiring after 25 years. She loved to travel in Europe and the Southwestern United States; loved dogs; dancing; and loved being with family.

Carol is survived by her husband, Liv Whiting; daughter, Emmy Walls (Dave); son, Joey Whiting (Alisha Plas); sister, Mary Routten Wilson; grandchildren, Colton Whiting, Mandy Walls and Drew Walls; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Lee and Dorothea Phillips Routten; and her sister, Anne Rakes.

The family would like to thank the Warwick Forrest Evergreen Memory Care Unit and Pam Wood for their tremendous care and support during Carol's Alzheimer's illness.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-7:30 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton.
