IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Sharon
Watkins
July 20, 1943 – February 24, 2026
Carol Sharon Kelly Watkins, 82, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cambridge, Maryland, in the summer of 1943 to Carol Rae Kelly and Margaret Roselyn Wheeler "Sis" Guiant, Sharon moved with her parents to Hampton, where she was raised. A proud member of Hampton High School's Class of 1961, she held a lifelong affection for Buckroe Beach. Throughout her adult life, she made her home along the Chesapeake Bay, ultimately retiring—though never slowing down—as a resident of the Salt Ponds.
For more than 40 years, Sharon owned and operated Poquoson Travel Agency, where she built a reputation as a trusted professional and a leader in her field. Her passion for travel took her across the globe, exploring new cultures, landscapes, and traditions. She delighted in sharing those experiences with her family, friends, and clients, inspiring countless journeys for others.
Sharon was equally devoted to service. Her longstanding involvement with the American Legion Auxiliary included multiple leadership roles with Post 48 and the state organization. She also volunteered tirelessly at the local VA hospital, offering support, comfort, and gratitude to veterans who meant so much to her.
Above all, Sharon's greatest joy was her family. She was a steady source of love, encouragement, wisdom, and refuge—always ready with guidance, a warm welcome, or a spare bedroom, for anyone who needed it. Her presence was a constant reminder of what it means to show up for the people you love.
She is survived by her daughters Rosa Lynn Arway (Gary) of Roanoke and Kimberly Rae Watkins (Brian) of New York City, and son, Bradley Coleman Watkins (Karen) of Suffolk; grandchildren Heather Thacker (Curtis), Meagan Perry (Tony), Tyler Watkins, and Harper Quill; great-grandchildren Meya, Bella, and Reed Thacker; brother Patrick Guiant (Catherine) of Las Vegas; sister Deborah Guiant of Hampton, nieces Michelle Zimbric (Ryan) and Mandy Blackford (Chris); nephew Andrew Guiant; many great-nieces and great-nephews; extended family members; dear friends; and beloved pets. Each will carry forward her memory with deep affection.
Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the love she gave so freely and the many lives she brightened with her strength, generosity, and spirit. A summertime celebration of life will be held in Buckroe Beach, where friends and family can gather in gratitude for Sharon's life. Details will be shared soon.
