Carol Wray Walter, 74, of Hampton, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2021, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Carol was born in Hampton and remained a lifelong resident. She attended Kecoughtan and Hampton High Schools, graduating from HHS in 1965. A few years later she met her husband, Timothy Walter; they married in 1970 and raised their family together in Hampton until his tragic passing in 1982. Carol was a thriving homemaker, a loving care provider for her family, and a proud and devoted mother and grandmother. She spent her life dedicated to her children and grandchildren, and experienced great joy in attending and participating in their various activities and supporting them in all of their academic, athletic and professional pursuits. She will be remembered for her love of the outdoors and meticulous landscaping of her yard, and her special recipe for country hams for family to share during the holidays.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Walter, of Arlington, VA; son, Douglas Walter and his wife Courtney of Hampton, and son, Bryan Walter and his wife Mindy of Arlington;  her four grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Regan, Timothy "Bo", and Peyton of Hampton, and Jack of Arlington. She is also survived by her brother, J. Ashton Wray, Jr. and his wife Robin of Hampton; her nieces, Ali Wray of Newport News, Loren Wray of Washington D.C.; and her cousin, Virginia Wray of Batesville, AR.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Parklawn Memorial Park.
