Obituary

Carol Audrey Jackson, 85, died Sunday, January 24, 2021. Born in Fall River, Mass., she had been a Peninsula resident since 1972. A US Army veteran she served during the Korean Conflict. Carol received an associate's degree from Thomas Nelson Community College and a Bachelor's degree in International Government and Commerce from Newberry College in 1987. She also attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary. She was listed in the Who's Who in American Junior Colleges in 1974-1975 and was a member of the DAV Murray-Rhea Peninsula Chapter 6 where she had served as Past Commander and Adjutant. In her younger years she enjoyed Bingo and fishing.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Jane Bryant and Ruth Annette Snow; a son, David Sarles Jackson; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with Army honors will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, February 1, 2021 at Hampton Memorial Gardens and may be watched live on the Facebook page of R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, 1804 S Church St, Smithfield, VA 23430.
