Carey Wynn Hall-Warner, 61, of Hampton, VA, passed away on May 12, 2019.

Carey was employed as the Library Medial Specialist at Elephants Fork Elementary School in Suffolk, VA. She was involved in her church and served as the chairperson of the Social Justice Committee. Carey taught swimming lessons at the YMCA in both Hampton and Newport News. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting in her spare time. Carey and her husband, Steve, were very involved in the Basenji Rescue and Transport organization, helping to foster and adopt numerous dogs.

Carey was preceded in death by her mother, Iris Fay Wynn Yarbrough. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Anthony Warner and her son, Sean Frederick Hall, her parents, Thomas and Patricia Yarbrough, sister, Suzanne Yarbrough Bowman, brothers, Thomas Gibson Yarbrough II, Wynn William Yarbrough, Walter Cullum Yarbrough, and Christopher Lucien Yarbrough, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and foster children.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Basenji Rescue and Transport and the American Diabetes Association.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on June 8, 2019 at the Unitarian Universalists Fellowship of the Peninsula at 415 Youngs Mill Lane in Newport News with a reception to follow .
