Calvin Brown
Williams, Jr.
February 26, 1942 – May 7, 2025
Calvin Brown Williams, Jr, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. A native of Fox Hill, Cal was born to Calvin and Margaret Williams on February 26, 1942. He spent his entire life in Hampton, where he graduated from Hampton High School in 1960. He went on to have a long career at Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock as a QID Inspector, and retired in 1999 after close to 40 years of dedicated service. Cal proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He was a lifelong member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Fox Hill Volunteer Fire Company.
Cal was preceded in death by his loving and supportive parents; his first wife, Linda C. Williams and their 2 sons, Richard T. Williams and Brad C. Williams; and his sister, Mary W. Smith; he leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 44 years, Katherine S. Williams; daughters Ann W. Steveson (Brian) and Selby T Grand (Chris); grandchildren, Zachary L. Steveson and Ryleigh E. Steveson; sister-in-law, Rachel Sevier; brother-in-law, Wayne Smith; nephew, Heath Smith (Sheila); and many other loving family members and friends.
From the time Cal was a child, nothing made him happier than being out on the boat fishing, a passion he learned from his dad. Cal also took great pride in planting and nurturing his yearly garden. In his later years, Cal always looked forward to his daily card playing with his friends down in Fox Hill.
The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at Mary Immaculate Hospital for their love and support during this difficult time.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, Hampton. Interment will follow in Clark Cemetery, Hampton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Calvin's name to the Clark Cemetery Fund, c/o Mary Roseau, Treasurer, 373 Emily Dickenson South, Newport News, VA 23606-1488 or the Fox Hill Volunteer Fire Company, 800 Beach Road, Hampton, VA 23664.
