In Loving Memory of Brenda Osborne Carr

Born August 16, 1940 - Entered Eternal Rest September 4, 2025

Brenda Osborne Carr, 85, of Halifax, Virginia, passed away peacefully in Yorktown, where she had lived with her daughter for the past four years.

She worked for many years as a Teacher's Assistant at Halifax Elementary School for the Halifax County School System. Brenda was a longtime member of Halifax Presbyterian Church until its closing and later joined Berry Hill Presbyterian Church, where she served faithfully.

Beginning at age 72, Brenda took up painting. She especially loved watercolor painting, and completed more than 100 works, most often of birds and roosters.

She is survived by her children, James B. Carr Jr. (Jimmy) and Jane Carr Poates (Scott); grandchildren Stefanie Poates Bean, Jaci Poates Duffy, Amanda Walker Elliott, and April Walker Chappell; nine great-grandchildren; and brothers Richard Osborne (Marsha) and Orin Osborne. She was preceded in death by her son, Jason Charles Carr; daughter-in-law, Donna Barksdale Carr; and her parents, Thelma Eudy Osborne and Richard Charles Osborne.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berry Hill Presbyterian Church.
