Bobby "Wayne" Crawford passed away peacefully February 19, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Wayne was born in Hampton on June 23, 1942; and was raised in Dog Bottom, a part of Hampton true Hamptonians are familiar with.  He resided in Hampton his entire life. There was once a place called Sweet Shops in Downtown Hampton where he met the love of his life, Linda.  They were married May 9, 1963, a marriage that lasted 61 years.

Wayne worked for several transmission shops before becoming co-owner of B & W Transmission.  This led to a successful career before his retirement.  Wayne loved boating, NASCAR, and he owned, restored and built several classics cars.

To know Wayne was to love Wayne.  He never met a stranger.  His personality made you feel at ease, even when meeting him for the first time.  He would do anything for anybody and had a knack for telling jokes and being a prankster.  His passing leaves a huge void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Wayne was a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church and was baptized Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Virgie and Albert Crawford.  He is survived by his wife Linda, daughter, Donna Sprouse (Steve), grandson, Jason Drew (Lindsey) and great-grandchildren Wyatt and Willow Drew.

The family would like to thank Riverside Palliative Care and Hospice nurses for the wonderful care they provided.

A visitation will be February 26, 2025, from 9 – 10 AM with a service starting at 10 AM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton.  Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
