Bevely Lee Mingee Jr., died Sunday, November 14, 2021. He was born August 7, 1949 to Bevely Lee Mingee Sr. and Margaret Lee Miller Mingee at Dixie Hospital in Hampton Va. A lifelong resident of Hampton, he grew up in Phoebus. Bevely "Bud" served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War after being called up in 1966 at a young age. Bud retired from the Northrop Grumman shipyard after 35 years. He enjoyed oldie music and Westerns as well as fishing, swimming, and family trips to the lake.
Bevely was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Evelyn Mingee. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beverly Lois Mingee; son, Bevely Lee Mingee III (Christina); sisters, Penny Crawford (Dearl), Phyllis Haynes, and Barbara Chadwick; brothers, William Mingee, George Mingee, Carl Mingee (Nicole), Steven Mingee (Maria); grandchildren, Dorothy Ezzell-Mingee, Bevely Lee Mingee IV, Steven Smith, and Anthony Ezzell; great-granddaughter, Amber Toombs; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bud loved his family and they all brought great joy to his life. He loved the home life and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 5:30-7PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday November 19, 2021 at 2PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park with Army Honors.
