Betty Lou Rose Blagg died on July 20 in Fishersville, VA. Born on March 16, 1927 in Morgantown, WV she was the youngest child of Walter and Ethel Rose. Her parents and siblings Lillian, Fred, and John preceded her in death. She was married to Robert Lewis Blagg for 67 years until his passing in 2013. That year she moved from Virginia Beach to Fishersville. Betty was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, VA Beach. She spent her entire life in the service of her Lord and in support of her family. She served many roles in United Methodist Churches in the Hampton Roads cities where she and Bob raised their 5 children - Rev. Donald Blagg (Nancy), Connie Basnett (Mike), Anne Sanzo (Steve), Janet Hopewell (David), and Robert David Blagg (Tetta). Over the years, she shared her talents with such organizations as the Norfolk Civic Chorus, Meals on Wheels, Samaritan House, PTA, Sunday School classes, and CBN as a counselor and tour guide. In addition to her children and their spouses, Betty is survived by 12 grandchildren Brian, Teresa, Kevin, Karen, Matthew, Stephen, Lily, Benjamin, Rebecca, Jessie, Davide, and Jean-Ann. Also great-grandchildren Eric, Kayla,Brendan, Addi, Brogan and Saria as well as several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Phoebus United Methodist Church, Hampton. Arrangements by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
