Betty Johnson Anthony, 91, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016. Born in Richmond, she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended Longwood College (previously State Teachers College) and Smithdeal Massey Business College.  Betty worked at C & O Credit Union, and for forty years she worked alongside her husband in the development of Mechanical Projects Incorporated and Hampton Scientific Industrial Center.  They later owned and operated Hampton Roads Marina. Upon retirement, they enjoyed vacationing at their winter home in Florida. Betty was a member of Newport News Republican Women's Club and Saint Joseph Catholic Church.

Betty is proceeded in death by her husband, Frank Andrew 'Tony" Anthony, and her grandson, Brantley Johnson Roberts.  Her survivors include  daughters Karen Anthony Roberts of Richmond and Susan Anthony Lineberry (Neal)of Hampton, grandsons Andrew Coleman Lineberry (Denise), Mark Alston Lineberry (Lindsay), Patrick Wood Lineberry and Kevin Marshall Lineberry, all of Hampton; Grandson Anthony Joynes Roberts and granddaughter  Katherine Roberts Johannesson (Daniel), both of Richmond; and five great-grandchildren.

Beloved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known to them as Bizzle, Grandma Betts and GiGi.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30PM on Friday, August 26 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2PM on Saturday, August 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
