April 3, 1941 – February 10, 2019
Bernard Dean Pennington, 77, died Sunday, February 10, 2019. Born in Princeville, IL, he had been a Hampton resident since 1983. He was a retired CMSGT with the United States Air Force. During his service to his country he served in the Vietnam War. Bernie received numerous medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. He retired in 1988 after 30 years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, a member of the DAV, the VFW, the NCO Association, The Air Force Sergeants Association, and the Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Judith A. Pennington and his parents Lloyd and Wilma Pennington. Survivors include his daughter, Bernadine Roggenstein and husband, Tommy Johnson; his sister, Sharon L. Mosier and husband, Dexter; his granddaughter, Brandy M. Roggenstein and significant other, Craig Whitney; and his great-grandson, Zack Dean Roggenstein.
A graveside service with full Air Force honors will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. State Veterans' Cemetery in Suffolk.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
