Devoted mother and loving wife, Mrs. Benita "Neat" Brooks, passed from this world suddenly on May 30, 2022, at the age of 59.

Neat was, and will always be, the very heart of her family. She was an unwavering source of love and compassion, tirelessly devoted to making sure their lives were brightened. There was never a single birthday, holiday, or special event that Neat missed, always making sure her family felt loved and not forgotten. Even in hard times she found a way to show her love. Sometimes with a cute balloon and a spunky card, other times with chocolates and a bouquet of flowers. Neat was the one to put gifts under the tree and birthday cakes on the table.

She courageously battled health disabilities in the face of great adversity, but bore these hardships with grace and determination. Even going through great effort to care for her late mother and brother when they needed help the most.

Benita lived her life as a beautiful light, whose smile could cast away any shadow no matter how dark. She was loved and will always be cherished by everyone who was blessed to know her. She is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Deanna and Sabrina; her husband, Wayne; and her two brothers, four sisters, five nieces, seven nephews, and their children.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 PM, Friday, June 10, 2022, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA.
