Bartlett H. Young, Jr., 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.  He was born in Newport News to parents Barlett and Virginia Young.  Bart served in the United States Navy and retired as a machinist with Newport News Shipbuilding. He was an avid Nascar, Duke Blue Devils, and Boston Red Sox fan. Bart also enjoyed collecting coins.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly Davis; he is survived by his beloved wife of  55 years, Patricia A. Young; daughter Cynthia D. Young (Larry); son, Michael R. Young (Michele); sister, Gail A. Hanson (Mac);  grandchildren, Megan Byers, Ariel Cook (David), Haley Giovannetti (Chelsea) and Roger Byers; great-grandchildren Mason Byers, Ava McBee, Mickey McBee, Lailah McBee, Scarlett McBee, and Stella Grace Cook; as  well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home; with a visitation from 10-11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran's Cemetery, Suffolk, VA with military honors at 3 PM on December 28, 2023.
