Barbara Jean Petty, 86, died Monday, December 7, 2020. Born in Manassas, she had been a Hampton resident since 1966 where she worked as the Human Resources Director for the Peninsula Behavioral Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, participating with the neighborhood watch, travelling, going to the beach, and Atlanta Braves baseball.

Preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Frances Earhart Swank; and a grandson, Robbie Large; survivors include her children, Vicky Coiner, Lori Biven, and Kerry Barthlome and his wife, Jennifer; six grandchildren, William Coiner, Jennifer McGuire, Sierra Barthlome, Joshua Barthlome, William Large, and Nikki Garris; and a great-grandchild, Atlas Garris.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel and may be viewed live by clicking here .
