Ultimately returning to Virginia where she met her husband John and they had a wonderful mutual love that lasted a lifetime
Barbara continued to teach as she encouraged and supported John in pursuing his collegiate education in Blacksburg. Once complete the couple returned to Norfolk where their son David was born and Barbara enthusiastically embraced her new career as homemaker. After spending a few years in other locations in Virginia they ultimately returned to Barbara's home region of tidewater settling in Hampton.
Barbara particularly enjoyed staying active by regularly playing bridge with friends in neighborhood clubs. Some of the other things she enjoyed were hosting family holiday gatherings, socializing with friends and neighbors, participating in local garden clubs, remaining active with the William and Mary alumni association, and is a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
In retirement Barbara enjoyed traveling with John around the country in their motor coach and traveling internationally to places such as China, Africa, Greece, and Russia, amongst others. She was also very fond of their winter home in Naples Florida and the time spent there with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin C. and Grace B. Shriver, her sister Grace Shriver Wiggins, and her brother Edwin C. Shriver.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years John Inman, son David Inman, sister in-laws Ione Tabor and Marjorie Shriver. Barbara was also especially close with her niece, Bonney Ball.
