Barbara Rogers Hawks, 90, passed away January 8, 2026, at Langley Post Acute Care in Hampton, VA. Born in Surry County, VA, and a lifelong resident of Hampton Roads, Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Hampton High School and a 1956 graduate of Stuart Circle Hospital Nursing School in Richmond, VA. She retired from Hampton City Schools in 1997 after 22 years of service as a school nurse. She was an active member of Fox Hill Road Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joseph G. Hawks; parents, John A. and Annie C. Rogers; brother, John Rogers; and sister, Beulah Bragg.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Bull, and son-in-law, Kevin Bull; son, Dennis Hawks; and granddaughters, Allison (Thayer M.) and Lauren (Kyle A.).

Barbara's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Langley Post Acute Care for the wonderful attention and care she received, and a special thanks to Shirley H. for her care and compassion through the last three years of Barbara's life.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family wishes that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nightingale Legacy Fund via the Virginia Nurses Foundation, Nightingale Legacy Fund , or to another charitable organization of the donor's choosing.
