Barbara H. Blanks, 86, died Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Born in Lynchburg, VA, she grew up in Hampton where she was a cheerleader and graduated from Hampton High School in 1950. Barbara was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Hampton Women's Club. She worked 32 years in civil service retiring at Langley Air Force Base.

Barbara is survived by her husband William E. Blanks; children, Mark Blanks and Leslie Blanks; grandchildren, Brittany, Leah, Joey, Jason, Sarah, Rachel and Georgia; and six great-grandchildren; and two dear friends, Betsy Tignor and Gloria Fisher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ellie Hayden; and sister Lottie Manning.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Central United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10-11 am. Interment will be held at Albert G. Horton State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11 am.
