Barbara A. Baxter, 74, passed unexpectedly on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Born and raised in Hampton, she retired from NASA in 1993. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir, she enjoyed listening to Christian music and she was a volunteer at the Ferguson Center for the Arts. Barbara loved square dancing, gardening, and her dog, "Dixie", but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Thomas Baxter; survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Smith and her husband, Bill of Zuni, VA; her son, Brian Eutsler and his wife, Angel of Montpelier, VA; her brother, Martin T. Baxter and his wife, Jeanette of Toano, VA; two sisters, Dollie Lewis and her husband, Michael of Hayes, VA and Kathy Caldwell and her husband, Charlie of Fulshear, TX; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 10-11AM, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Liberty Baptist Church followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM officiated by Pastor Joe Hunt. If you plan to attend the service, we invite you to wear a splash of purple (her favorite color) to honor Nannie B.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Barbara was awarded the Joslin Medal for surviving insulin dependent diabetes for 50 years.
