Obituary

Ballard Scott Compton, 58, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 with his family at his side. Born and raised in Hampton, he later made his home in the Great Smoky Mountains and Key West before returning home to Fox Hill in his final years. Scott loved performing in every aspect, and was known by all as a magician, a musician, and a consummate storyteller. Next to his family, his proudest accomplishment was being the magician at Dollywood where, as he loved to put it, he installed smiles.

He is survived by his father, Charles Robert Compton; his two sons, Charlie (Stephanie) Compton and Christian (Haleigh) Compton; the love of his life, Marisa Holliday Compton; his siblings, Charles "Bob" (Jane) Compton, Jr., Mary "Sissy" (Jean) Compton, Becky (Herb) Barnhart, Bunny (Joe) Fitzpatrick, and Jenny (Phil) Watkins; and their families. His mother, Elizabeth Moore Compton, preceded him in death.

Family will receive friends at the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 10, with the service following at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the International Brotherhood of Magicians Endowment and Development Fund, 13 Point West Blvd, St Charles, MO 63301-4431 or the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation 1100 Industrial Road #1, San Carlos, CA 94070.
