After defying odds for almost 21 years, Ashtin Michael Jobst passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 9, 2021 surrounded by loved ones at CHKD. Born on June 25, 2000, Ashtin loved SpongeBob, playing baseball, and couldn't get enough of his baseball movies as he got older.

At 5 years old, Ashtin was diagnosed with Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) ll, also known as Hunter Syndrome. This meant that sweet Ashtin was unable to break down the sugar molecules in his body which caused neurological and physical issues. Unfortunately, there is currently not a cure for this disease.  Even though his body couldn't do what he may have wanted, Ashtin was famous for throwing the "side eye"! He taught others patience, compassion, understanding and was loving in his own ways.

Not only was his family blessed with him, he was blessed with an amazing family. Left to cherish wonderful memories of Ashtin are his mother and father, Dana Hayner and Cory Jobst; his younger siblings, Braden and Emory; grandparents, Randy Thomas, Kathy Thomas, and Michael and Carolyn Jobst; and Aunt Carrie Hamilton, and Uncle Scott Thomas.  Ashtin was also lucky enough to have lots of extended family and friends who loved him fiercely.  He was preceded in death by his Granny who was there to greet him in Heaven with a huge hug.

There are many Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, and Aides who lovingly assisted Ashtin over the years. CHKD became a second home, and we could not have asked for a better Doctor than Dr. Mehta. The family would also like to acknowledge Kache and Cathy, long time nurses, who were a great support system and loved our boy. Ally also made life easier on Ashtin the last few months with medical massages that made him smile. While our handsome man was at school, Lori took good care of him and made his schooling experience amazing.  His family will never forget the love they have been shown from all those caretakers who worked with Ashtin on his journey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, April 13 at R Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 – 6:30 PM on Monday, April 12.  The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home Facebook page or by CLICKING HERE .
