Antonio Araiza, 73, passed away December 28, 2021. Antonio was born in Mexico City in 1948. He moved to the United States after completing college at Academia de Artes y Pintura Nacional de Mexico where he studied drawing and art. He was well known for his drawing and work in the cartoon industry as well as a CAD designer. His greatest career achievement was working as a pioneer in the Virginia Soccer Community as a referee assigner. This love of soccer led to him starting his own company and working with referees all over the East Coast in numerous leagues. When he wasn't working, Antonio was a devoted family man. He loved spending time with his wife and children. He devoted much of his time later in life to his grandchildren. Antonio was well known for his garden and his green thumb as well as his love for the outdoors. He was a fan of contemporary music and loved bands like The Beatles and The Doors as well as Latin music like Selena. He will be remembered for his kind words, unwavering work ethic, and his honesty and loyalty to those he loved.

Survivors include his wife, Esthela Araiza; sons, Paul Araiza and Roger Araiza; daughter, Crystal Araiza; and a large extended family.

The family will receive friends at St. Matthew's Anglican Catholic Church, Main Street, Newport News from 2-3 PM, Saturday, January 8, 2022.  A Mass will follow at 3 PM at the church.  The service will be streamed on the funeral home Facebook page beginning at 2:58 PM. LIVE STREAM CLICK HERE
