Obituary

On December 9, 2017, Anthony George Vaziouracis met his Heavenly maker to rest in comfort and peace in the arms of God.

Although born in Athens, Greece, Anthony grew up in Middlesex County and the Hampton Roads area where he was an avid year-round and summer swimmer from his elementary to high school years for the Urbanna, Gloucester, Grafton High School, and the Typhoon Swim Teams, breaking records and winning several awards. He played on Grafton High School's soccer and football teams, won a talent show with his band in Grafton Middle School, and had his art displayed in an art gallery in Yorktown.

Anthony's greatest joy and love was his son Colten Jace Vaziouracis, 5, with whom he shared his interests in soccer, swimming, football, baseball, Legos, art, music, reading, writing, math, and computers. Often he promised his son that he would be his angel living in his heart with Jesus if anything were to happen to him; he taught him the importance of prayer, faith in God, and the Holy Trinity in hope of continuing his love in his Christian faith.

Besides leaving behind Colten, Anthony leaves behind his twin brother Angelos George Vaziouracis. In addition, he leaves behind, his mother Alexandra M. Rush and step-father James F. Rush and step-siblings Steven, Michael, and Shannan Rush and Megan McLaughlin; his father George Vaziouracis and his family in Greece as well as step-mother Kathy Gee Mallory and half-siblings Stella and Yianni Vaziouracis; his grandfather Angelos Markov; Colten's mother Brianne Meyerson (Anthony's former fiancee of 9 years) and grandmother Michele Stump; his uncles, aunts, and cousins: David, Liberty, and Alexander Bushey as well as Emilia Randler; Eric, Angelina, Victoria, and Zach Deagle; and beloved cousin Costa Georgiou; his godmother Melita De Franscesa and her family in Canada; and girlfriend Veronica Welliver and her daughter Khalie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Anthony's mother for any financial burdens and to establish a college fund for his son Colten.
