Annie Chadwick Sleigher, 92, died Monday, July 25, 2016 at Sentara Careplex. She was the widow of Joseph Sleigher, her husband of 70 years.

A native of Burgaw in Pender County, NC, Mrs. Sleigher was the daughter of William Frasier and Myrtle Parker Chadwick. She had been a Hampton resident since 1941. She was a 62 year member of Restoration Church, Phoebus Baptist and taught throughout the years in many capacities. Her influence and love will remain in the hearts of her students and the lives she has touched for years to come.

Mrs. Sleigher is survived by her four children, William "Bill" Sleigher and wife Patricia of Hampton, Robert "Bob" Sleigher and wife Kathy of Columbia, SC, Patricia Sleigher Harris and husband Doug of Greensboro, NC, and Madeline Carol Sleigher Swanson of Hampton; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Norma C. Pridgen of Burgaw, NC.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 am, Thursday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by Pastor Lee Harris with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
