Anne M. Payne, 87, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018.  Born and raised in New London, CT, where she graduated from WMI School for Girls in 1947.  After High School, she worked for General Dynamics as the top secretary for the head of the security office for several years before becoming engaged to William Henry Payne III, whom she married on April 24, 1954.  They were happily married for 50 years.

Anne was a strong intelligent woman with a great sense of humor.  She loved her family very much.  She was preceded in death by the love of her life, William H. Payne, III in August of 2004.  She is survived by her only living sister, Cecila (Lee)Kennedy; her children, Lisa Payne of New London, CT, Tracy A. Mitchell-Johnson (Sam) of Hampton,VA, Lisa Poirier of New London, CT, and Peter Cardoza (Christine) of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Evan Payne (Heather), Katrelle Mitchell, Sammi Johnson, Necoma' Gregory (Ronnie) Talika Taylor (Jamie) Vernon RJ Mitchell (Christal) Tiana Johnson (Nicole), Dr. Temica Mitchell, Kalia S. Mitchell, Iwana Goodwin (Kareem), Samonda BIllips, Jason James, Joseph Cardoza and Robert Cardoza; twenty-nine great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many well loved nieces and nephews.
